As the UniSC Sustainability Principal, Anne Marie is responsible for implementing sustainability-related operational initiatives across the University. This includes tracking and reporting on the University's emissions, managing the implementation of the Carbon Management Plan, hosting events to educate staff and students on sustainable behaviours and initiatives and serving as a liaison between the operational and teaching departments on sustainability projects.
Anne Marie came to UniSC after a career that spanned the university and sustainable development fields. She has worked with local governments across Australia to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions and plan for the risks associated with climate change impacts, designing and rolling out ICLEI Oceania’s Adaptation Initiative. Prior to that she provided stakeholder engagement, Triple Bottom Line and sustainability reporting advice to public and private sector clients as the Manager, Organisational Sustainability for Futureye Pty Ltd.
Anne Marie’s research and project coordination background began at World Resources Institute and has focused on a range of sustainability issues, from marine protected area network formation and linking reserves into a biological corridor to examining civil society engagement in global processes and the impacts of decentralisation on transboundary natural resource management. She has published in the areas of civil society engagement and sustainable development. Anne Marie used these experiences to give depth to her role as a facilitator and tutor in the areas of sustainability, ecotourism and futures planning at the University of Queensland.
