Dr Carol Reid

Dr Carol Reid is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Paramedicine and has been awarded Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Carol has many years of clinical nursing, tertiary education and research experience. She has made significant research contributions to the area health services research relating to chronic diseases such as, Hepatitis C, Alcohol and Drug, Sexual Health, HIV/AIDS, Cancer Care. She also has experience in tool development and survey methodology.

She has successfully received competitive grants and is currently leading the development and psychometric testing of a digital measure of patient-reported experience of cancer care in the ambulatory setting at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Carol is also working in collaboration with researchers from the University of Auckland, New Zealand with this same research being conducted at the Auckland City and Waikato Hospitals.

This health services research will assist in informing the strategic direction of cancer services and health organisations within Australia’s health care system and globally with New Zealand Collaborators. Funding has been received for an international collaboration between University of Auckland, New Zealand and Brisbane, Australia for a large Australian health services study commencing in 2019. Dr Reid has presented her research nationally and internationally and is currently a national and international reviewer for reputable nursing journals from Australia, Europe and USA.

Carol is currently a member of the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI), Visiting Research Scholar at Princess Alexandra and Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospitals. She is a board member of the Phi Delta-At-Large Chapter for the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International and a committee member for the Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses. Carol has developed a team of researchers to undertake health services research in Hepatitis C and Alcohol use.
