Jennifer Scherman

Jennifer Scherman joined the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience Thompson Institute in 2019.

Her background is in nursing, completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006, choosing to specialise in Mental Health. Jennifer has practiced as a mental health nurse in a variety of settings, having extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Along with being employed with the Thompson Institute as a Research Assistant she is also practicing as a Community Mental Health Nurse.

Jennifer completed a Master of Public Health in 2010. Her research dissertation was a qualitative lived experience study entitled ‘Social Isolation of People Living with HIV/AIDS in South East Queensland’. She interviewed 21 participants living with HIV/AIDS to better understand determinants and consequences of social isolation within this cohort.

As a Research Assistant (Youth Mental Health), Jennifer is responsible for supporting a range of research activities, including participant recruitment and assessments, data gathering and analysis, assisting with the preparation of journal articles, and liaising with other members of staff and external organisations. She is currently assisting in multiple clinical trials across the Thompson Institute
