Thu is the study coordinator for the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) study at USC's Thompson Institute. The ME/CFS study uses multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques combined with clinical assessments to understand its neuropathophysiology and develop an objective neuromarker.

As a study coordinator, Thu works closely with the Chief Investigators to coordinate and monitor the compliance, safety, and efficient conduct of the study. Thu is responsible for leading ME/CFS research in terms of resources, communication with patients and the patient community. Thu also supports a range of research activities, including participant recruitment, assessment planning, supervision of data collection including preparation and conducting MRI studies, data entry, cleaning, and analysis, assisting with the preparation of study publications, and liaising with other members of staff and external organisations.

Thu holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Social Work. Thu has 10 years of experience in research assistance, and project management in Quantitative and Qualitative research. Prior to joining the Thompson Institute, Thu worked on a variety of research projects in consumer marketing, non-profit organisations, and the university sector in Australia and overseas. Her recent projects focused on Youth Mental Health, Eating Disorders, Prenatal Maternal Stress, Family Estrangement and Suicide, and Problematic Pornography.
