NUR121 Health, Culture and Society

Nursing and midwifery are integral to the Australian health care system. As such nurses and midwives practice in ways that promote health and wellness in the diverse Australian population. You will develop your understanding of the social, cultural and political influences, both locally and globally, that shape health care delivery in Australia. We will examine the role of inequality, marginalisation, self-determination and equity as barriers and enablers in relation to access to health care in the Australian setting.
