Experience the world’s largest sand island with this comprehensive guide, including what to do before visiting, self-guided walk and drive itineraries, points of interest, off-line maps, tide and barge times.

Learn how wind, sand, water and plants work together in an endless cycle to create K’gari’s unique lakes, dunes, coloured cliffs and rainforests. Discover simple ways to help protect and conserve this natural wonder.

Note: Connectivity on the Island is limited. Once installed open the app before arriving on the Island to download content for offline use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the app when I'm offline?

Yes - but the content must have been download for offline use first, this is done automatically when the app is first opened. You must have an internet connection the first time you open the app.

How often will the app be updated?

The app content is maintained by UniSC and will be updated periodically. The app will automatically download any new or updated content each time it is restarted. To disable this feature deselect the 'Auto update content' option in the app menu.

How can I provide feedback on the app?

You can provide feedback and suggestions for the app by emailing fraserislandapp@usc.edu.au and/or rating the app on the Apple or Google Play store.

What if I do not want the app to use my current location?

The app includes maps which will show your current location using the global positioning system if you allow it. The permission is requested when first accessing the map page in the app.
