Patient rights

The Psychology Clinic upholds your rights as set out by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Charter for Clients of Psychologists.

This states that, as a client, you have the right to expect that:

  • you will be treated with respect
  • you will receive a clear explanation of the service you will receive
  • your consent will be sought by your psychologist prior to and during treatment
  • you will receive an explanation about the nature and limits of confidentiality
  • the goals that you and the psychologist are working toward will be made clear
  • you will receive competent and professional service
  • you will receive an estimate of the number of sessions required
  • you treatment will be free from sexual harassment
  • respect will be shown for your cultural background and language tradition
