The Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) is located alongside the Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya.
At SCHI, UniSC students studying to become healthcare professionals can experience hands-on clinical training in state-of-the-art simulation suites, including exact replicas of the new hospital’s operating suite, intensive care bedroom, birthing suite and emergency resuscitation bay.
Other facilities include clinical research laboratories, multipurpose learning areas, e-learning areas, an auditorium and a purpose-built lecture theatre.
About the Sunshine Coast Health Institute
The Sunshine Coast Health Institute is a partnership between the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, UniSC, TAFE Queensland and Griffith University. The SCHI is a shared facility where UniSC and partners deliver education programs and hands-on clinical training and undertake research.

ID card and induction
Students studying courses at SCHI will need an SCHI ID card, in addition to a UniSC student ID card.
To obtain their SCHI ID card students must complete an on-site induction prior to classes starting.
If you are enrolled to study at SCHI you will be notified of the induction requirements via your UniSC student email.
Parking
Paid parking is in place at SCHI and the hospital precinct and students wishing to park within Car Park 1 (refer to the map of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital) should enter via the public entry lane in order to be charged for the length of stay. Students whom enter via the staff entry lane will be liable to incur a full day charge regardless of length of stay.
Please note that on-street parking along Birtinya Boulevard, Eccles Boulevard, Bright Place and Shine Court is 2-hour paid metred parking from 8am-5pm, 7 days per week.

UniSC students have access to the Eduroam wireless network and computers to access UniSC systems at SCHI.
