Calum McRae joined the Tropical Forests and Peoples Research Centre in late 2023 as a Remote Sensing/GIS Analyst. After completing his bachelors and honours degree in earth sciences at the University of Adelaide, he began his GIS career working in the forestry sector in New Zealand, developing skills in analysing drone-based LiDAR and photogrammetry, satellite imagery and mobile laser scan data. These skills have been transferred to the Tropical Forests and Peoples Research Centre where he has focused on land classification, tree biometrics and regional climatic analysis.
