Peter’s chief research area is sports journalism, with an emphasis on its journalists, content, and social media. He is also interested in change in broader areas of journalism, and media. He has worked as a sports journalist for more than two decades, and continues to write for domestic and international publications.

Project name 

​Project description 

​A typology of Australian sports journalism 

​Interviews with 120 Australian sports journalists to help understand their roles, responsibilities and practices in contemporary newsrooms.

Facilitating the academic success of high-performance student-athletes 

This project involves examining what teaching approaches student-athletes require to succeed at university, and also investigates how educators perceive their ability to provide teaching and curriculum support to student-athletes.
