Yachen completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honour) at Nanjing Agricultural University in 2019 and a Master of Veterinary Science (Pathology) at the University of Queensland in 2020.
In early 2021, Yachen started a PhD under Associate Professor Volker Herzig at the University of the Sunshine Coast, focusing on arachnid venom screening for discovering orally active insecticidal peptide and treatment of honeybee parasite. At the same time, she is also exploring the potential effect of sublethal venom peptide doses on insect contextual memory, using conditioned place preference / aversion paradigm.
