Emeritus Professor (September 2020)

Professor Robert Elliot was named Emeritus Professor in September 2020 in recognition of his service to USC as a senior executive who helped guide USC’s extraordinary expansion, international profile and academic credibility for 25 years.

Professor Robert Elliot commenced at USC in 1995 to develop the former Faculty of Arts / Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences from infancy to a comprehensive set of program offerings. After a decade as Dean, the Professor of Philosophy attained the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) in 2005 and later Pro Vice-Chancellor (International and Quality). In this role, Robert significantly contributed to the growth of USC and its international profile as well as its academic credibility and compliance.In addition to his broad responsibility for international and quality activities, Professor Elliot significantly contributed to academic governance at USC including as Acting Chair / Deputy Chair of Academic Board and its standing committees, Chair of the Internationalisation Advisory Committee, and Chair of the Quality and Standards Committee.In recognition of his sustained and distinguished service to USC for 25 years, Professor Robert Elliot is a worthy recipient of the honorary award of Emeritus Professor of the University of the Sunshine Coast.
