Active trials - currently recruiting volunteers

Select a study below for more information and to see if you can participate.

Coeliac Disease

Have you been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease?

We are now recruiting for the next phase of research on an experimental vaccine therapy to treat Coeliac Disease.

Currently, the only way to manage the disease is by the lifelong and strict avoidance of gluten in the diet, as even small amounts of gluten can cause gastrointestinal damage and related symptoms. A gluten-free diet is exceptionally demanding for patients, expensive, and can be difficult to maintain as gluten is used extensively in modern food production.

Our study will explore whether the use of a novel vaccine therapy can switch off the immune response and restore gluten tolerance.

We are currently recruiting study participants who:

  • Are between the ages of 18 and 70.
  • Have been on a gluten free diet for at least 12 months.
  • Have been medically diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, by biopsy.
  • Are willing to attend approximately 20 clinic visits over a 6 month period.

This clinical trial is run from our Sunshine Coast clinic (click to open in Google Maps).

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have a pterygium in one or both eyes, that is also associated with eye redness.
  • Are willing to attend 6 clinic visits over 3 months

Cold Agglutinin Disease (CAgD)

Do you have Cold Agglutinin Disease?

We are looking for individuals who have been medically diagnosed with Primary CAgD to participate in a study to see whether a new investigational product can increase haemoglobin (Hgb) levels in order to eliminate the need for blood transfusions in the treatment of CAgD.

We are currently recruiting study participants who:

  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Have been medically diagnosed with Primary Cold Agglutinin Disease (CAgD).

The study will be split into two parts. For part A of the study, participants will need to attend 16 clinic visits over a 6-month period. For part B, participants will need to attend fortnightly clinic visits for up to 2 years.

This clinical trial is run in partnership with Sunshine Coast Haematology and Oncology Clinic (click to open in Google Maps).
