Supporting para-athletic students to combine university study with high level performance in para-athletic competition
Offered for the first time in 2016 the June Canavan Para-athlete Sport Scholarship will support eligible students to combine their undergraduate study at USC with high level performance in para-athletic competition.
As an Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU), this Scholarship aims to attract and encourage para-athlete students pursuing higher education. Applicants are to be commencing or continuing full or part time study in their first USC undergraduate program and be able to demonstrate high level sporting achievement, potential to continue to perform in para-athletic sport at a high level, academic merit and financial need.
To allow for the busy training and competition schedule of an elite athlete, part-time students are eligible to apply and the scholarship will be paid pro-rata based on enrolment. Continuing USC students who meet the eligibility criteria are also eligible to apply, and if awarded, their scholarship will be paid for the remainder of their study subject to terms of the scholarship.
Two (2) new Scholarships to be offered in 2018. One (1) in Semester 1, 2018 and one (1) in Semester 2, 2018 with a total value of up to A$20,000 per scholarship, to be provided to each successful Scholarship recipient for up to four (4) years of undergraduate study at USC.
Each Scholarship is valued at A$5,000 per annum (paid in 2 x A$2,500 instalments after confirmation of enrolment each semester), for up to 8 semesters (for a 4 year undergraduate study program), total value up to A$20,000. If a student recipient is undertaking a three (3) year undergraduate program, the total value of the Scholarship will be A$15,000.
