Collaboration for SDG best practice. Through international collaboration and research, review comparative approaches and develop international best practice on tackling the SDGs.
UniSC has played a significant role in reviewing comparative approaches and developing international best practice for tackling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through collaborative research and global partnerships.
One key example is UniSC’s leadership in the Pacific Agriculture Scholarships, Support and Climate Resilience Program (PASS–CR), which involves collaboration with institutions across Pacific Island nations. This initiative, funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), supports comparative research on food systems and climate resilience, helping to identify best practices for poverty reduction and sustainable agriculture in vulnerable regions. The program enables scholars and institutions to share knowledge and strategies, contributing to SDGs 1, 2, and 13.
UniSC has also contributed to global academic discourse through publications such as the article in Microbiology Australia, which explores how higher education institutions can integrate SDGs into the teaching–research nexus. This work highlights UniSC’s role in promoting south-to-south cooperation and developing pedagogical models that support sustainability education and innovation.
Additionally, UniSC’s participation in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings reflects its commitment to benchmarking and improving SDG performance. In 2024, UniSC ranked in the top 3.9% globally, demonstrating its success in applying and sharing best practices across SDG domains, particularly in areas like clean water, climate action, and partnerships for the goals.
These examples show how UniSC leverages international collaboration to refine approaches, share insights, and contribute to the development of global best practices for sustainable development.
Summary
UniSC contributes to developing international best practice for achieving the SDGs through collaborative research programs like PASS–CR and global academic engagement, enabling comparative analysis and shared strategies across regions and institutions.
