Participation in government research. Undertake policy-focused research in collaboration with government departments.

The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) undertakes policy-focused research in collaboration with government departments and agencies across multiple domains:

Climate Change and Migration Policy

The Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research (ACPIR) leads strategic research on climate adaptation and managed relocation of Pacific communities affected by rising sea levels. This work directly informs regional and national policy frameworks for climate resilience and migration planning, in partnership with Australian and Pacific government agencies.

Sustainability and Environmental Governance

The Sustainability Research Cluster collaborates with local councils and state government to develop evidence-based strategies for coastal management, biodiversity conservation, and climate adaptation, shaping policy for sustainable regional development.

Transport and Safety Policy

The Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems works with Queensland Government departments on road safety and transport systems, applying systems-thinking research to improve policy on infrastructure and public safety.

Health Policy and Clinical Trials

UniSC’s Clinical Trials Centre, supported by the Queensland Government’s Industry Partnership Program, expands research capacity to inform state health policy and regulatory frameworks for new treatments and medical devices.

Summary

Through these collaborative efforts with government, UniSC demonstrates its commitment to using research to inform and improve public policy, ultimately contributing to the wellbeing of communities and the environment.
