Neutral platform to discuss issues. Provide a neutral platform and ‘safe’ space for different political stakeholders to come together to frankly discuss challenges.
UniSC frequently hosts and sponsors topical events that serve as neutral platforms for dialogue among academics, government officials, industry leaders, and the community. These events foster knowledge exchange, proved a safe space and encourage collaborative solutions to pressing societal challenges.
One example is the Industry to Research Event, which continues to connect researchers with industry leaders to explore innovative projects and partnerships. Supported by the Regional University Industry Collaboration (RUIC) Program, the Queensland Government, and CSIRO, this event features dynamic pitches from companies and research teams, aiming to spark collaborations that drive innovation and regional economic growth.
Another significant initiative is the Healthy Ageing Forum, held in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and health organisations. This event brings together experts to discuss strategies for resilience, frailty prevention, and digital health innovations, reflecting UniSC’s leadership in addressing ageing-related policy and practice challenges. In 2024, UniSC also launched the Digital Health Productivity Lab in collaboration with Cisco, positioning the university as a key player in shaping health technology policy and workforce development.
UniSC continues to facilitate discussions on critical national issues. For example, events such as Voices of K’gari: Research, Respect and Responsibility and sustainability-focused gatherings like the Moreton Bay Eco Fest provide platforms for dialogue on cultural heritage, climate action, and environmental policy. These forums engage diverse stakeholders in evidence-based conversations that inform policy and community practice.
Summary
Through these and other events, UniSC demonstrates its commitment to creating inclusive, collaborative spaces where research informs policy and practice, and where government, industry, and community stakeholders work together to address complex societal challenges.
