UniSC supports staff well-being through various initiatives. On campus staff have access to over 75 staff kitchens and tea rooms. These facilities ensure that staff have spaces to prepare and enjoy meals, contributing to their overall well-being.
UniSC’s commitment to health and well-being includes access to the Employee Assistance Program and the EMERALD wellbeing program, which offer free and confidential counselling services, along with Nutrition and Lifestyle Assist and Thompson Institute experts. These specialist advice services provide guidance on nutrition, sleep, resilience, mindfulness, and positive lifestyle changes. This holistic approach supports both the physical and mental health of staff members.
The Sunshine Coast area offers several hunger intervention programs to support those in need. The Sunshine Coast Council provides a comprehensive list of food support services, including emergency payments for food and groceries through organisations like United Synergies, Caloundra Community Centre, Salvation Army, and St Vincent de Paul. Additionally, various community centres and organisations, such as the Maroochydore Neighbourhood Centre and the Shack Community Centre in Nambour, offer meals and low-cost groceries. UniSC often sponsors events at these community centres.
