The dining experience at the University of the Sunshine Coast campus at Sippy Downs is about to undergo a major transformation.
As part of wider campus improvements, the Brasserie will soon be refurbished to offer a more vibrant space with a greater choice of food and drinks, with a focus on healthy eating at a price point suitable for students.
The new kitchen and dining areas will accommodate a burger bar, wholefoods café, an international canteen and a ‘grab and go’ option outlet, due to open in 2026.
A new kitchen will include commercial-grade equipment and digital displays to improve efficiencies and improved amenity. The contemporary design will allow for flexibility of use and longevity with neutral finishes and fittings.
UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Helen Bartlett, said the upgrade was an important step to developing a vibrant campus social hub for students, staff and visitors to campus, alongside more spaces to study and use during the day and night.
“Students enjoy taking time out from classes to socialise and study, so it’s important that we have modern options and comfortable spaces to accommodate this more as part of wider campus improvements,” Professor Bartlett said.
“The new look Brasserie will be a space that offers multiple food options, a sense of privacy, and is safe and accessible, consistent with a maturing university and world-class research institution that attracts staff and students from around the world.
“Following a fantastic upgrade to Café C, this will elevate the campus experience for students, staff and visitors to the campus.”
During the upgrade, the Brasserie will operate from an adjacent building, previously occupied by a sushi shop, as well as the central site occupied by Good Bean café until late June.
A future pizza restaurant and bar are on the plans for a later stage.
