A Social Enterprise may be described as a value-driven business with a primarily social or environmental purpose whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for its owners. This course enables students to understand possible strategic management options for the operation of a particular social enterprise and its operational context, depending on the cost recovery decision: no cost recovery, some cost recovery, full cost recovery or more than full cost recovery social enterprise.
