This is a practical hands on course that explores how the environment has shaped the emergence of culture, the rise and fall of civilisations and the unfolding of 21st century environmental dilemmas. It looks at the intersection of culture and nature and explores the way in which material culture, natural resources and environmental pressures have shaped and challenged humans to adapt and social systems to evolve. New virtual mapping technologies will be employed to illustrate and deepen our knowledge of these fascinating developments.
