Kerri-Anne Von Deest is an Associate Lecturer in the Occupational Therapy discipline at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC). With a strong foundation in both clinical practice and academic scholarship, she brings valuable expertise to the education and professional development of emerging occupational therapists.
Kerri-Anne is dedicated to creating high-quality, authentic learning experiences that prepare students for the complexities of contemporary occupational therapy practice. She is particularly passionate about supporting first-year students as they transition into university life and begin their journey in occupational therapy and healthcare. Her commitment extends to the promotion of interprofessional education, ensuring students gain the skills and understanding required to collaborate effectively within diverse healthcare teams.
A key focus of Kerri-Anne’s academic work is the integration of Indigenous perspectives within the occupational therapy curriculum. Kerri-Anne is an active member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Working Party for the School of Health, UniSC.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Kerri-Anne serves as the Program Coordinator for the Diploma of Allied Health Assistance at UniSC. In this role, she provides academic leadership and curriculum oversight.
Kerri-Anne is also developing her research profile, working collaboratively with experienced researchers across a range of projects. Her growing expertise includes the supervision of Honours research students in occupational therapy.
Kerri-Anne is a member of the Higher Education Academy (UK) receiving Fellowship in 2023.
