Dr Julie Hanson is a senior lecturer of nursing in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine. She is the current Clinical Program Coordinator for the Sunshine Coast region, a current member of the USC NURTURE research cluster, a Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) member and has a Visiting Research Fellowship with Sunshine Coast Hospital Health Service. Julie was a previous member and Deputy Chair of the Ethics Committee. Julie’s prior international clinical career spanned 26 years in intensive care, specialist cardiothoracic nursing, cardiology and oncology.
Julie is an early career researcher and has established herself as a Chief Investigator on both clinical research studies and higher education research projects. The main focus of Julie’s clinical research is nursing interventions to enhance patients’ self care and disease management in the community setting. In her higher education research, she is passionate about using innovative technologies to engage students in authentic learning. Julie’s Advance award for Quality Teaching in 2018 addressed transition pedagogy using 3D visualisation technology.
Julie has 8 publications and reviews for two international peer reviewed journals. Since 2015, Julie and her colleagues have attracted approximately A$99,000 in research funds for projects that involve academic and clinical collaborations.
