Sunshine Coast Lightning

USC is a proud part-owner of the Sunshine Coast's first national elite sports team - the Sunshine Coast Lightning.

The team was formed in late 2016. USC and the Melbourne Storm NRL club were successful bidders for one of three new clubs in a revamped national netball competition.

The players train and play home games at USC's world-class sports stadium.

Competition highlights

The Sunshine Coast Lightning were champions in the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Finals in 2017 and 2018. They were runner-up in 2019 but Lightning finished the 2019 season as minor premiers after winning 12 of its 14 matches in the regular season.

Competition runs from April to September each year.
