Tania Wiesmayr-Freeman

Tania Wiesmayr-Freeman has over 25 years of experience as a Dietitian, Health Educator and Health Professional. Tania’s role is to coordinate and oversee Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Professional Practice placements for fourth year Dietetic Honours students. In addition, she teaches Dietetic Counselling Skills, MNT theory and supports various other courses across the Ba Dietetics(Hons) Program.

MNT placements are 10 weeks in duration and are undertaken in acute and sub-acute hospitals, community and private practice setings. Her role includes delivering workshops and tutorials, supporting students and supervisors as well as assessing students. Tania is passionate about enhancing the placement experience for students and supervisors.

In addition, Tania is the coordinator of the Dietetics Professional Practice course which develops student skills in leadership, collaboration, working in a private practice and basic entrepreneurial business concept development.

Her professional career has seen her work in a wide range of management, leadership and senior health professional roles. Tania's experience includes leading broad scale change across a health service region particularly with regard to nutrition and dietetics, allied health workforce development and clinical incident management. Tania’s love of teaching, supervision and mentoring has been a common feature.

Tania’s business experience includes being Founding Director of a multi-award winning Fermented and Food Beverage Manufacturing Company. She is strongly connected with the Sunshine Coast Food and Agricultural Network and Noosa Slow Food.

Along with her commitment to supporting the profession, Tania has been committed to Mentoring dietitians through the Dietitian’s Australia structured mentoring program and co-convening the Dietitian’s Australia Dietetic Educators Interest Group.
