The Commonwealth Prac Payment supports eligible students to cover some of the costs associated with mandatory placements for nursing, midwifery, social work and teaching degrees.
From July 2025, eligible students will be able to access up to $331.65 per week while they're undertaking placement. The payment will be means-tested to ensure the support goes to students who need it the most.
To find out more about the Commonwealth Prac Payment, visit the Department of Education website, which includes details of the student eligibility criteria, including the means testing criteria. Students are encouraged to review this site to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria specified by the federal government.
